Marine-D3 has been advertised with a headline which reads, “Rare discovery helps lower blood pressure.” Clicking on the ad may take you to what appears to be a sponsored article which states:

Dr. Haengwoo Lee, a renowned biochemist living near Seattle, Washington conducted a massive 15 year, multimillion dollar clinical study on these two ingredients. The first is Seanol, an extremely rare seaweed extract from Ecklonia Cava that’s proven to be 100 times more powerful than any land-based antioxidant. It’s also the only FDA-approved Ecklonia Cava marine-algae extract in existence.

The second ingredient is Calamarine, a deep-sea omega-3 discovery that delivers 85% more DHA omega-3s to your heart, brain, joints, and eyes. It’s known to combat everything from fatigue and poor memory, to vision problems, joint pain, mood swings and depression.

The official website is marined3.com, which was registered in March 2011. This domain uses several different landing pages, depending on where it is being advertised. One version claims to be a “private” page “for your eyes only,” while another is a long white board presentation.

Marine-D3 is marketed by Marine Essentials. The website for this company is marineessentials.com, which was registered in July 2010.

How much does Marine-D3 cost?

After an extensive, rambling sales pitch about the “healing powers” of Marine-D3 which help you “turn back the clock” we are finally offered a chance to buy the product. The cost decreases as multiple bottles are purchased:

• 4 bottles: $199.80 ($49.95 each)

Shipping is free. There is a “VIP Membership” club that is added to your cart automatically, which you can un-check to opt out. This club automatically sends a shipments of 4 bottles every 4 months at a cost of $179.82.

Ingredients: Does Marine-D3 Work?

The official website is vague in the ingredients of Marine-D3 citing Seanol, a seaweed extract, and Vitamin D3. ConsumerLab lists the full ingredients as Vitamin D3, calamari oil, and a brown seaweed extract.

Other Marine-D3 Reviews

ConsumerLab also points out, “no clinical studies have been published to back up these claims specifically for the Marine-D3 formula.”

There are a few complaints on Scambook, mostly relating to the shipping and returns processes.

Reviews on Amazon are mixed, although they slightly lean toward the positive, with a 3.4 star rating as of this writing.

Bottom Line

Marine-D3 appears to be a good source of Vitamin D3 and omega-3 fatty acids, but it is easy to find individual supplements containing these ingredients for a substantially lower cost. Many of the claims made on the Marine-D3 advertisement and website are unsubstantiated.
