Our Dump Cakes Review

Dump Cakes by Cathy Mitchell is a collection of over 250 desserts that are advertised as simple and delicious. Most of the recipes require a primary ingredient of frozen fruit or cake mix, and usually only about 4 or 5 ingredients in all.

While we found many of the ingredients to be straightforward and simple to make, nothing seemed unusual about them in a positive sense, either. In other words, these felt like typical recipes that are readily available online. The advantage of getting the recipes online is that often they include comments from readers who have tried it or who offer their own versions.

Some of the recipes are considerably more involved than the easy dishes shown in the television commercial. And, although the commercial hints briefly that you could create a guilt-free dessert by using diet soda, there are very few offerings in Dump Cakes that could be considered guilt-free. Most of the desserts are shamelessly high in sugar and calories.

The Dump Dinners booklet has a meager offering of recipes, and adds little value to the purchase.
