Product Review: GNC Mega Men Prostate & Virility

Product Review: GNC Mega Men Prostate & Virility

Today we’re taking a look at GNC’s Mega Men Prostate & Virility dietary supplement. This product is intended to assist not only with enlarged prostate, but also with virility issues. After a two-month test of the product, we’re ready to deliver our results.

What Made Me Choose This?

I was encouraged to try this product after walking into a GNC and asking if they carried Pygeum for BPH. You can read more about Pygeum in this article which discusses a variety of natural BPH remedies. The person at GNC showed me a bottle of Mega Men Prostate & Virility, and said her husband was taking it and had good results. After a cursory look at the label, I realized that Pygeum was really the only active ingredient I didn’t already have in my medicine cabinet. But I figured if this one pill could replace several others, it might be worth a try.

Active Ingredients

This product lists a “Prostate Blend” and a “Virility Blend” on the label. The prostate blend contains saw palmetto, pumpkin seed meal, and Pygeum. The virility blend contains Yohimbe Bark Extract, Yohimbine alkaloids, Horny Goat Weed, Maca Root Powder, and L-Arginine.

Pros

If you recall, I bought this product primarily for enlarged prostate. After a few days of taking it, I noticed a definite improvement with increased urine flow and reduced urgency. It felt as if a great burden had been lifted. I hadn’t really thought much of the virility aspect of the product, but started noticing improvement in this area as well. I even felt more energy at night.

I’m certain that the increased energy and performance were a result of Yohimbe/Yohimbine. I have extensive experience with these, and what I was feeling after taking this supplement was quite familiar. But those positives come with a downside, which leads me to the cons.

Cons

I should preface my cons by stating that I may be in the minority here, and this may only apply to some men. But there is a single “con” with this product, but it is a big one for me. Yohimbe is a powerful herb, too powerful in my opinion to take every day. Even though it is a wonder drug for performance issues, it isn’t for everyone. In my case, after about a week of taking these pills, I began to feel more angry and aggressive. My girlfriend even commented that I acted like I was taking steroids due of my increasingly aggressive nature.

I played with the dosage a little. Instead of taking two pills together, I tried taking one every 12 hours. Then I tried reducing the dosage to only one pill a day (from the suggested two per day on the bottle). Alas, I reluctantly decided to stop taking the product altogether. I was happy with the prostate blend, but found that the side effects from the virility blend were too intense. I do still occasionally take one for the virility aspect or even for increased energy on a night out, but those are hardly reasons to buy this product.

If a prostate and virility combination is what you’re looking for and you don’t experience the side effects mentioned above, this product is a godsend. If, however, you start to feel aggressive and angry after taking this product, you may want to steer clear and find a similar product without the same virility ingredients.
