Transcript of the television commercial above:

Are you confused by all the expanding hoses on the market? Don’t be fooled by imitations. Hi, I’m Michael Berardi. I’m the inventor of the XHose, the original blue expanding hose. In fact, I’ve been awarded two US Patents for my invention. My XHose it the only patented expanding hose on the market, and it bears the trusted DAP product’s name. Now I’m very proud to introduce my new DAP XHose Pro, with solid brass fittings, a wider three-quarter inch diameter, and constructed from even stronger materials. Works like my original XHose. Just turn the water on and my XHose Pro automatically expands and expands and expands as you effortlessly guide it to where you need to go. And when you’re finished, my XHose Pro will automatically follow you back and contract for easy storage. My Dap XHose Pro is great for home owners and professionals.

“I own a mobile detailing company and this hose saves me a lot time and energy on my job. It never kinks, it’s super lightweight, and hardly takes up any space in my trailer.”

This 50-foot three-quarter inch rubber hose weighs over 11 pounds. My 50-foot three-quarter inch XHose Pro weighs only about two pounds.

Our Dap XHose Pro Review

The expandable hose market has been a crowded field over the past few years with such offerings as the Pocket Hose, Flex-Able Hose, and XHose all vying for consumer attention. These products tend to advertise heavily in the spring and summer, and go somewhat dormant during the winter months.

Dap XHose Pro supposedly addresses many of the problems (namely bursting under pressure) with other expandable hoses by highlighting their brass fittings – shown being struck by a hammer in the television ad.

Despite their assurances of its superior quality, we found the Dap XHose Pro suffers from the same problems as its competitors, and we experienced leakages and breaks after only minimal use. Although they advertise the brass fittings as a solution to problems experienced by other hoses, our 50-foot XHose Pro split in the center on the second use – a problem unrelated to their touted brass fittings.

Keep in mind that some positive reviews of this product found online are based on only one use, which may not be sufficient expose the weaknesses of the product.

Those who have attempted to hold the company to their lifetime warranty have been surprised to find that they must pay to ship the hose back, in addition to a shipping and handling fee for a replacement.

Other XHose Pro Reviews

  • Amazon. On Amazon, as of this writing, the XHose receives a 1.5 star rating with over 350 reviews.
  • Freakin’ Reviews describes the product as “disappointing.”
  • AdFibs describes some of the XHose Pro adverting as “deceptive.”

Bottom Line

As with many other As Seen on TV products, the Dap XHose Pro is a clever idea which is poorly implemented. If you insist on purchasing one, we recommend buying it locally to avoid shipping delays and charges. This will also make the return process easier and less costly.
