An interview which featured conservative commentator Kurt Schlichter was supposed to highlight recent statements made by GOP candidate Donald Trump, but the guest kept bringing the 1990s scandal involving President Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.

Early in the interview, when Schlichter criticized Hillary Clinton for “standing with a serial sexual abuser,” Lemon tried to halt the guest’s attack by saying “stop” eight times in a row. “That’s not fair,” Lemon added.

Later, despite Lemon’s attempt to re-focus the interview on Trump, Schlichter continued to hammer away at Bill Clinton. “Don, it’s going to take a lot more for me to get upset at a woman who enabled a guy who turned the Oval Office into a frat house and his intern into a humidor,” he said.

Yet another Trump-related question was redirected by the guest to the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. “Have you ever heard a presidential candidate say things like this?” Lemon asked. “No, but I know of a president who, well, turned his intern into a humidor, so I think we set the standard a little lower than Donald Trump has even approached,” Schlichter quipped.

Lemon finally went on the offensive against his guest. “It is a low blow. It is the… yeah I want to end this,” he said. “This is the lowest of the low and it has nothing to do with Hillary Clinton. It is just a cheap shot that…”

“Can we please stop?” he asked the producers as Schlichter continued to talk. “Can we stop? Can we cut him off please. At least end this, thank you.”

After the show, Schlichter sent out a tweet referring to Lemon as “pathetic.”

What do you think of the interview and Don Lemon’s reaction? Do you think Schlichter was out of line?
