About Flex Seal Clear
This “clear” version of Flex Seal is the third entry in a line of liquid sealants which has been a staple of late-night and weekend advertising for years. The official website is getflexseal.com, which was registered on March 21, 2011. Flex Seal Clear was added to the product lineup in July 2013. It is widely available in stores.
The website flexsealdirect.com has been advertised in early 2014. That domain was registered on March 1, 2013.

Our Flex Seal Clear Review
The original Flex Seal presented one obvious flaw that even the best advertising couldn’t mask: its color. No matter what you sprayed with the original Flex Seal, you were essentially spray-painting it black in your attempt to repair it. The powers at be at Flex Seal apparently decided that a clear formula would provide more value to consumers. Thus, the creation of Flex Seal Clear.
At $20 a bottle, Flex Seal Clear is one of the more expensive rubberized sealant sprays available. It should also be pointed out that Flex Seal Clear is thinner than regular Flex Seal, as stated in their FAQ.
Q: Is Flex Seal® Clear the same formula as Flex Seal® Original and Flex Seal® Brite?
A: Flex Seal® Clear coats, seals, protects and stops leaks fast! However, in order to give Flex Seal® Clear its amazing transparency, we had to make some adjustments to our formula. Therefore, Flex Seal® Clear will be slightly thinner and multiple, even coats may be needed to get the job done.
Our Test
Our first test of Flex Seal Clear was on a pipe under a bathroom sink. While the seal initially held, the leak reappeared within 24 hours. A second test on a flower pot (similar to a demonstration shown in commercials for the original Flex Seal) was visually pleasing, although the pot still leaked at the repair site after we watered the plant. Flex Seal Clear seems to require multiple applications to provide even minimal effectiveness.
Beware when ordering this product online, as we have received complaints from previous Flex Seal customers that the ordering process may be confusing or deceptive.
Slow Shipping
We have received complaints of Flex Seal Clear taking an inordinate amount of time to arrive. This should be an unnecessary burden for any consumer, as the product is readily available locally.
Bottom Line
Flex Seal Clear generally fails to deliver what the commercial advertises. In fact, Flex Seal Clear is stated to be even weaker than the already-weak regular Flex Seal formula. Its usefulness seems limited to repairs which don’t involve water leaks.
If you’re looking for the solution promised by the Flex Seal Clear commercial, take a look at some rubberized undercoating sprays at a local car parts store or the automotive section at large retailers. 3M and Rust-Oleum, for example, offer excellent professional-grade products which cost far less.
