About Dr. Elsey’s Cat Attract

Advertised as a solution for problem cats with behavioral litter box issues, Dr. Elsey’s Cat Attract  is a specialized cat litter combined with a synthesis of natural herbs. According to the booklet that comes with every bag (as well as the PDF on the product website), Dr. Elsey has been a feline veterinarian for three decades, and “Cat Attract was developed through years of treating cats and testing litters in cat shelters and in my clinic. I found that many problem cats and young kittens prefer Cat Attract’s… texture and particle size and are drawn to its unique natural herbal blend. You will appreciate its superior clumping ability and natural chlorophyll odor control.” Cat Attract is available in 20 pound (~$10-$15) and 40 pound (~$25-$30) bags. More products and information from Dr. Elsey can be viewed at preciouscat.com.

Our Review of Cat Attract

In 2007, we adopted an older, female. Soon after, we discovered that she preferred urinating everywhere (usually on our furniture) except the litter box. We consider our cats to be part of the family, and abandoning our new addition wasn’t an option, so we endured the daily struggle while we sought a solution. Several years later, we finally solved the problem and the answer was Dr. Elsey’s Cat Attract. Our cats love it, and we rarely experience “accidents” now. Two 40 pound bags usually lasts us a month or two between three litter boxes.

Tips that We’ve Found Useful

  • Change your present litter to Cat Attract
  •  If you have multiple cats, try several litter boxes (experiment with locations)
  • Clean the litter boxes daily – no need to overhaul, just remove clumps of feces/urine
  • Overhaul litter boxes once every month or two
  • Don’t get angry – yelling and punishments will only make things worse

Other Reviews of Cat Attract

  • Cat Attract has a rating of 4.5/5 on Amazon
  • Petco users gave Cat Attract a 4.9/5 (It is no longer on the site)

You can also purchase Dr. Elsey’s Precious Cat Ultra Litter Attractant, a herbal blend that can be sprinkled on litter, but our cats prefer Cat Attract.

Bottom Line

If your cat won’t stop urinating outside their litter box, Cat Attract may be the solution. It worked for us and appears to be highly rated by other users. We buy the 40 pound bags, and it can be expensive, but it may be worth it for your cat’s happiness, to save your furniture, and to avoid constantly cleaning up messes.
